YCDSB Principal Wins Crime Stoppers Award

The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) is excited to share that Nicholas (Nick) Galatianos, a Student Success Specialist and Principal of Indigenous Education, has won the 2023 Community Partner Award from Crime Stoppers of York Region.

With the Community Partner Award, Nick was recognized for his dedication to making our community a safer place for all. Nick has organized the Annual York Region Crime Stoppers Student Symposium since 2018. He also played a central role in the creating the YCSDB’s anti-sex trafficking protocols, which are at the forefront of protecting York Region residents. While Nick was a vice principal at Cardinal Carter CHS, in Aurora, Ont., he was also a leader in a Crime Stoppers project which produced a video featuring YCDSB students and staff that was shown across the country.

Nick came to the York Catholic District School Board in 2017 after spending 12 years with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. He has been a vice principal and acting principal at St. Robert CHS, vice principal at Cardinal Carter CHS, principal of St. Luke Catholic Learning Centre, principal of St. Joan of Arc CHS and in April 2023 he became a Student Success Specialist and Principal of Indigenous Education.
